Two Poems (Summer 1997)
By Jane Wheeler
This Woman
Who's this woman who's helping to set me free? I really don't know,
But something tells me that love is her key.Who's this woman who's helping me to come out? I really don't know,
But I sure am starting to sprout.Who's this woman who's helping me each and every week? I really don't know,
But I sure am learning to speak.Who's this woman who's helping to set me free? I really don't know.
But she's more and more looking like me.
I Think There Was a Disconnect...
I think there was a disconnect between what I know, And what the world chose to show.
As a child,
I thought my life was pretty mild.
I climbed trees,
Scraped my knees.
But inside was all a flutter.
I began to stutter. As an adult,
I have begun the assault
To regain what I know,
To hell with what the world chooses to show.
